Info Post
Sony Ericsson refused to wait until the Mobile World Congress opened on Monday in Barcelona, and Sunday evening the company unveiled its prototype Idou smartphone and provided an early glance at its second-ever full touchscreen phone. The company also unveiled an 8 megapixel camera phone and unlimited movie download service for mobile phones.
Sony Ericsson’s Idou may be far from complete, but that didn’t stop the company pulling out the limited number of pre-production demo units they had and running through a quick showcase of some of the touchscreen smartphone’s features.
Sony Ericsson Idou
Company’s new Idou is many things, but the feature most people will notice first is the camera. All 12.1 megapixels of it. With a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, the phone will run the first version of the Symbian Foundation’s operating system and features intuitive touch controls, a Xenon flash, and true 16:9 wide screen viewing. Still unclear about the Sony Ericsson Idou is internal or external storage; we’re assuming the handset will come with both some amount of onboard memory, and a Micro M2 card slot to accommodate all those high-resolution images. Battery details are also unclear, as is the data/charger connector.
Pricing and availability for the Idou prototype has not been announced, but the company says the phone will be released under the company’s new Entertainment Unlimited umbrella in the second half of 2009.
